Well, I've been outed as a fan of Minecraft. Yet another barrier to regular blogging, it would seem... It took just a few minutes of playing to begin thinking about recreating TSR modules. I knew I wasn't the only one - check out the above,
a recreation of the castle from B2's Keep on the Borderlands. Is that gorgeous or what? Then there's this guy's
recreation of Tomb of Horrors. Anyone else addicted to this game (or recovering)? Yikes.

I haven't fallen victim yet... but it's sure tempting.
I periodically go on Minecraft binges. Some of the caves are super creepy and atmospheric--great dungeon design inspiration.
Minecraft is excellent inspiration for D&D caves. Not so great for outdoor locations. Pictures of actual caves ore better in that they're more realistic, but you get such a great sense of the caves in Minecraft for actually getting in there are being killed by Creepers in them.
I started to construct Quasqueton from B2 'In Search of the Unknown' on a multiplayer server i'm on, but the world got wiped.
Minecraft really needs some kind of GM mod for running rpgs in Mincraft :)
@Paul & 1d30: Yeah, I really like that creepiness - great use of music and sound effects, very atmospheric indeed.
@James Stuart: I've read about people using this in their D&D games. Sounds interesting but it's not really clear to me how they go about it - maybe using teamspeak or ventrilo with it in some fashion? There's the built in text chat I suppose, maybe they just play it in creative mode and the DM is the only builder.
Why haven't I posted in two weeks? Minecraft.
Ouch. I feel your pain, believe me! ;)
Minecraft is one of those program's that is every dungeoneer's dream, and amazingly scary when opening up pitch black chambers that suddenly resound with that dreaded, "fssssst", announcing the close presence of a Creeper.
Brilliant to see B2's infamous Keep - if only I had such patience, such vision... and my own server! Great article, and thanks for joining my blog. Hope you find one or two things of interest there for your reading pleasure :)
(apologies, removed previous comment as I noted a huge cock-up in my spelling - but not surprising as I was half asleep when posting it... doh!)
